Even though Christmas is supposed to be a season to spend time with those we love, it’s those we hold most dear that sometimes get neglected amidst the season’s hustle and bustle. With the parties, shopping and all the other things we’ve just “got to get done,” it’s not always easy to find time for romance. This Christmas, don’t miss the chance to spend some special time with the one you love. Schedule some time for just the two of you and do something that you will both remember fondly long after Christmas dinner is done and the decorations are put away. Not the romantic type? Well, here are some romantic Christmas ideas to get you started…

– If there’s snow here you live, take your lover on a sleigh ride. Make sure you both dress warmly and take a Thermos of hot chocolate and a thick blanket. Cuddle up under the stars and listen to the sounds of the season. Though you may not hear anything except limbs creaking under the weight of the snow, you might get to hear the echoes of carolers in the distance.

– No snow? No problem. Just because you can’t take a sleigh ride doesn’t mean you can’t have a memorable journey. Sites such as Cloud 9 Living can help you plan a hot air balloon flight to whisk your love off into the skies. Again, dress warmly – even in more temperate climates, the air is cold when you’re drifting with the one you love among the stars.

– If you’re afraid of heights, you could borrow or rent a convertible. Put the top down and drive around looking at the Christmas lights and decorations in your town. Or rent a limousine and let someone else do the driving while the two of you sip champagne.

– Cook a special meal and share it in front of the fireplace, in bed or under the Christmas tree. All these locations are good choices for a romantic dinner for two. If you don’t cook, you can hire a caterer bring the meal to you or could arrange for a personal chef through a site offering experience gifts, such as Cloud 9 Living or Great American Days.

– If an entire meal is beyond your culinary abilities, bake cookies for the one you love. They don’t have to be fancy and you don’t have to be the most talented baker in town – it really is true that it’s the thought that counts! If your love knows that you generally are NOT comfortable in the kitchen, your efforts will be even more cherished. Then rent a romantic Christmas movie and enjoy your special treat together with a blanket on the couch.

– Write a love letter or poem to your special someone and wrap it in a box. Then present the gift to your love during the sleigh ride, balloon ride, special dinner, or movie night and read it aloud to him or her.

– Hire a local college or high school choir to carol at your house. But ask them to sing your “special song” in the middle of caroling. If you don’t have a “special song,” pick one now and be ready to tell your lover why you think it’s perfect for the two of you.

Hopefully these romantic Christmas ideas have gotten you in the mood to do something special with your loved one during the holiday season. Spend time with the one you love this year and have a Merry Christmas!
