Here’s a quick and easy Christmas activity for parents to do for their kids. Walgreens will let you create a free North Pole newsletter featuring your child’s photo, name, city and other information. Then you can show it to your child and let them read the news that “Santa Confirms Visit to (Your Child’s Name)’s Residence.”

It’s free and just takes a couple minutes to upload your child’s photo and information. The program will ask you for your child’s first and last name and address, but this is only to create the details in the newsletter. You don’t have to give your exact address – I gave the street name without the number and the newsletter still looked great.

In addition to the article announcing Santa’s intention to visit your house, the newsletter has fun little rolling headlines at the top of the page that say things such as, “FAA approves Santa’s flight plan to Timothy Lane” amd “Mrs. Claus urges Howard family to leave healthy snacks for Santa.”

The newsletter also includes a Santa Flight Tracker that shows a map of your hometown with an arrow pointing to the address you provided on the form.

It’s a cute little page that kids will enjoy. As of this writing (October 14, 2010), there’s one little problem with the newsletter because it still says, “Santa Claus checked his list twice before officially deciding whether (your child’s name) of (city) had been naughty or nice in 2009.” Hopefully they’ll be updating the year to say 2010 soon. Have fun!
