unique christmas stockings - giant stockingDuring the holidays, red felt stockings with faux white fir trim are available at almost any store for a couple of bucks. They’re everywhere. And, while there’s certainly nothing wrong with those stockings, they don’t really say much about your personality. Yes, Santa will fill them anyway. No, he will not remember them a week from now. For stockings that raise a jolly ol’ eyebrow, consider some of the following ideas you can purchase or create.

Giant traditional stocking – This giant stocking may have the traditional red sock with white-fur design, but that’s the only thing traditional about this huge sock that measures 60” tall. Santa can put fit some very big gifts in this one!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer stocking – This stocking is based on the popular animated TV special and is available exclusively through Bradford Exchange, which also offers many other Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer gifts.

Cowboy Christmas stockings – These awesome, unique Christmas stockings really look like boots! Find them at Rusty Accents.

Princess Christmas Stockings – If you have a little princess in your life, she’ll love a glittery Lil’ Princess© Personalized Stocking embroidered with her name.

Sexy Stockings – For a high heeled ho ho ho, check out these sexy Christmas stockings. These unique Christmas stockings shaped like women’s boots with heels come in a variety of sexy colors.

Create Your Own Unique Christmas Stockings – Did you know you can print an image onto cotton fabric? This opens the possibilities for your stocking front to have an image of your family dressed in their Christmas finery, your son’s first haircut, Grandpa dozing on the fishing dock or any other image you choose.

Begin by ironing a sheet of freezer paper (cut to 8½x11) to a piece of light-colored cotton fabric, cut slightly smaller than the paper. Iron the wrong side of the fabric to the plastic side of the paper to bond. Feed into the printer as a normal sheet of paper and print as usual. Using a stocking pattern, cut the fabric and sew to the stocking as directed. If the fabric is too small, mount it onto a larger piece with decorative stitching.
We are all unique, special individuals. There’s no need to have a stamped out, common stocking. Unique Christmas stockings make the holiday season more memorable.

For even more fun, pick out some unique Christmas stocking holders to display your stockings until Santa arrives.
